The joys of homeownership? Sometimes, homeownership can be stressful. Whitney was under pressure. Her hot water heater broke and flooded her lower level, taking out the LVP flooring. After a few falls, she discovered her home inspector did not reveal the danger of her stairs being out of code compliance, and to redo them properly, it meant knocking out a hallway wall at the top landing. She also wanted to put her house on the market so she could start a new life with a new family. This page is dedicated to her former home transformation, which other subcontractors and I, Dowglas, took part in as her then future husband.

Whitney’s Old house: Her vision & A Total transformation

This is the exterior of Whitney's home before she made any changes to it. The exterior was in pretty good shape, but she was concerned about the trim. Over time, the brown garage and front doors started fading due to weather exposure, and they looked
Another issue she noticed was the paint on the mailbox, which matched the trim around the doors, was weathering and looking dirty, even after she cleaned it again and again.

Whitney decided she wanted to update the color to a more modern, sleek black using excellent quality paint from Benjamin Moore.
She wanted to update the front door with the same color. We color-matched the paint on the trim to ensure it was the same color, and we matched special paint to repaint her concrete stairs.
With what was left over of the black paint, we repainted the railings of her stairs. Some of the paint on her railings was peeling, so we chipped away at it until it was as smooth as possible, then painted.

We also gave the mailbox post a fresh coat of paint.
Another decision Whitney made was to remove the muntins, also known as grills or window grids, from her windows to create a more modern look and enhance the mountain views from inside.

Here is the half-bath attached to the rear bedroom. Before, it was painted the same October Mist as the main areas. For the walls, Whitney chose Benjamin Moore's French Canvas, a warm greige, to ensure the black tile did not take away any light.
